“This gathering reflects our deep appreciation for the partners’ pivotal role and contributions that have not only consolidated DEWA’s pioneering position globally but also supported the comprehensive and sustainable development of Dubai and the UAE under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has reaffirmed that the UAE and Dubai’s consistent top rankings in global competitiveness indicators across various fields are the result of integrated efforts and a visionary approach that embraces global transformation and seizes opportunities for the future,” said Al Tayer.
“Thanks to the vision of our wise leadership, Dubai has become a global icon for entrepreneurship and sustainable investment, inspiring cities worldwide with its pioneering governance framework, resilient legislative system, advanced infrastructure, clear vision and ambitious plans for the future. At DEWA, we believe that strategic partnerships are a cornerstone of our vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation committed to achieving net zero by 2050. With the support of our partners, DEWA has become a global benchmark for operational and financial performance, surpassing leading utilities in Europe and the US. DEWA reduced electricity customer minutes lost (CML) in Dubai to just 0.94 minutes, while power transmission and distribution network losses were cut to 2% and water network losses to 4.5% – all of which are the lowest recorded worldwide. These are not only technical indicators, but evidence of our commitment to excellence and proof of what can be achieved when visions are unified and efforts are combined,” added Al Tayer.
“We are also proud of our solid partnership with public and private sector organisations in our major projects implemented through the independent producer model. This year, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of launching the first project under the independent power producer (IPP) model at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world. Thanks to this co-operation, the solar park’s production capacity will exceed 8,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030, compared to the original 5,000MW plan. Clean energy will reach 36% of the energy mix, compared to 25% under the initial plan,” added Al Tayer.
“We attach great importance to stakeholder happiness as a key component of our organisational strategy, as we are keen to strengthen our relationships with government and private sector partners through effective communication, knowledge exchange and unified efforts to achieve our shared goals of enhancing the global competitiveness of Dubai and the UAE while ensuring mutual benefits for all parties. In 2024, DEWA’s partner happiness rating reached 95.15%, reflecting the depth of mutual trust and the strength of our partnerships. This underscores that the success we achieve is the result of collective efforts and a shared belief in realising the wise leadership’s vision for a more prosperous and sustainable future,” elaborated Al Tayer.
“I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to you for your efforts and ongoing commitment to excellence, which form the foundation for maintaining Dubai’s leading position globally. We remain committed to strengthening these partnerships, exploring new horizons for co-operation and achieving further accomplishments, leading to higher levels of global leadership and competitiveness,” concluded Al Tayer.
