DOF recognised as a Leader in Government Digital

-DOF recognised as a Leader in Government Digital Transformation by Mastercard

The Department of Finance for the Government of Dubai (DOF) has been recognised as a “Leader in Digital Transformation in Government” by Mastercard. The award was presented at the inaugural Mastercard EDGE event, where it honoured Mastercard’s partners in the region.

The DOF was lauded for its valuable contributions to further the digitisation agenda across the Government of Dubai. The department has been hugely successful in enabling government customers, including individuals and corporates, to pay services fees through smart payment channels, using various bank cards issued by leading global financial services companies, such as Mastercard.

Jamal Hamed Al Marri, Executive Director of the Central Accounts Sector at DOF, said: “We are proud to receive this recognition which acknowledges the support that we give in the digital transformation field, and reflects the Government of Dubai’s established strategy to take the lead in digitising its services. Digital Dubai, through its various institutions, has played a pivotal role in digital transformation, adding to the efforts made by all relevant government agencies to achieve the strategic goals. We will continue to enjoy a positive partnership with Mastercard and further our efforts to develop innovative financial solutions that are consistent with our values of innovation, and competitiveness.”

J.K. Khalil, Cluster General Manager, MENA East, Mastercard, said: “The DOF has been a leading entity for digital transformation in Dubai, and we are delighted to recognise their efforts and continually strengthen our mutual ties and cooperation. Mastercard’s innovative solutions and world-class technologies have been widely adopted by both the public and private sectors across the UAE as we strive to bring more people into the digital economy. The Government of Dubai’s ongoing endeavors have contributed greatly to this, and we are keen to continue working hand-in-hand with them, leveraging our technical expertise to assist the emirate in its digital transformation efforts.”

Receiving the award on behalf of DOF, Amna Mohamed bin Lootah, Director of Smart Financial Services Division, added that the recognition is the culmination of years of effort to enhance the government’s digital transformation, develop smart financial services and digitise payments.

As part of the DOF and Mastercard’s strategic cooperation agreement, both sides will continue to develop financial services and products for the Government of Dubai. They are strongly committed to supporting smart initiatives aimed at accelerating digital transformation at government level, and increasing the efficiency of daily financial transactions.

Mastercard has made a worldwide commitment to financial inclusion, pledging to bring 1 billion people and 50 million micro and small businesses – with a focus on 25 million women entrepreneurs – into the digital economy by 2025.
