Dubai Police Distributes Over 325000 Iftar Meals

Dubai Police Distributes Over 325000 Iftar Meals as Part of “Ramadan Without Accidents” Campaign

In a continued effort to enhance traffic safety and reduce road accidents during the holy month of Ramadan, Dubai Police has distributed more than 325,250 iftar meals to motorists from the beginning of the month until the 25th day, as part of the “Ramadan Without Accidents” campaign.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about safe driving behaviour, especially during the moments leading up to Maghrib (sunset), when haste often results in risky driving.

Addressing a Critical Time on the Roads
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic, explained that the Traffic Awareness Department implemented the initiative in cooperation with multiple partners, including:
• Roads and Transport Authority
• Dubai Civil Defence
• Supreme Legislation Committee
• Emirates Red Crescent
• Dubai Charity Association
• Dubai Health Authority
• Dubai Digital Authority
• Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services
• Hemaya International Centre
• Emarat Al Youm newspaper
• Aster Group, Listerine Group, Med7 Pharmacy, and Life Pharmacy
• With the support of over 375 volunteers

Curbing Risky Driving Before Iftar
Al Mazrouei noted that there is a noticeable spike in traffic violations and accidents during iftar time, with many drivers speeding or running red lights in an attempt to reach their destination before the call to prayer.

He emphasised the importance of planning ahead, following traffic rules, and exercising patience and self-control, especially during this spiritually significant time.

“Arriving late and safe is better than not arriving at all,” he stressed.

A Spirit of Humanity and Social Unity
Major General Al Mazrouei extended his appreciation to all volunteers and supporting entities, stating that this initiative reflects the values of compassion and social solidarity deeply rooted in the UAE.

He encouraged all drivers to remain cautious and prioritise their own safety and that of others, in line with the campaign’s overarching goal: a Ramadan free of accidents.
