DEWA Youth Council wins Best National Government Youth Council 2025 Award

In the presence of HE Sultan Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), DEWA’s Youth Council received the Best National Government Youth Council 2025 Award in the UAE. The award was presented by the Federal Youth Authority, in recognition of the Council's pioneering efforts in supporting the youth and developing their capabilities.

Upon receiving DEWA Youth Council members, Al Tayer congratulated the team and commended their efforts, noting that the award is a result of DEWA’s ongoing endeavours to promote youth empowerment. He highlighted that this is supported by the wise vision of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, thereby positioning the UAE at the forefront of countries that pay special attention to youth.

“We are committed to preparing and empowering the youth, investing in their talents, refining their capabilities, conveying their voices and supporting their innovative solutions so that they become the next generation of sustainability leaders and partners in achieving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. We are proud of the achievements of DEWA’s Youth Council and its commitment to supporting our efforts to achieve the National Youth Agenda 2031, which aims to make Emirati youth the most prominent model locally and internationally of intellect and values, and to contribute effectively to economic and social development and national responsibility. DEWA’s workforce includes 2,753 young employees aged 18 to 35 years, which represents 25.7% of the total workforce. Additionally, young employees hold 39% of supervisory roles at DEWA,” said Al Tayer.

Aysha Mohammad Alremeithi, President of DEWA’s Youth Council, said: “This Award is the result of the guidance and support of DEWA’s top management, enabling us to deliver the best performance in all our national tasks and responsibilities, as well as their efforts in promoting youth awareness, empowering their technical skills and providing them with the tools necessary to be the cornerstone of sustainable and comprehensive development. The Council works closely with national youth councils as well as local and international organisations to enhance the productivity of the youth across all development sectors, especially in clean and renewable energy, thereby solidifying DEWA’s global position at all levels.”

From October 2019 until February 2025, DEWA’s Youth Council organised 77 events, 23 awareness sessions and 8 educational trips and field visits. It also participated in 12 international forums and conferences, hosted 13 benchmarking visits and facilitated participation in 4 national and international programmes during 2023 and 2024. Furthermore, the Council launched numerous initiatives and more than 10 communication platforms for DEWA’s young employees. Moreover, the happiness rate of DEWA’s youth towards the Council’s events and activities reached 95%.
