Dubai Police was honoured with three prestigious awards at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Awards 2024, which were announced during the organisation's annual conference in the United States.
International Recognition for Innovation
His Excellency Major General Dr Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidli, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Excellence and Pioneering, emphasised that these awards reflect Dubai Police's unwavering commitment to innovation and continuous development in delivering world-class security services.
"We are proud to lead global law enforcement agencies in adopting advanced technologies and innovative solutions. These accolades reaffirm our ability to overcome challenges in a rapidly changing world," he said. He added that the recognition is a testament to the dedication of Dubai Police teams, further solidifying its status as a regional and international security institution.
Awards and Categories
Dubai Police received one individual and two institutional awards:
1. 40 under 40
The IACP recognised Major Abdullah Al Shehhi, Director of the Cybercrime Investigation Department, with the 40 under 40 Award for his exceptional contributions to combating cybercrime. Al Shehhi's achievements include:
•Leading high-profile international cases
•Participating in global forums and conferences
•Implementing advanced technologies to enhance cybercrime prevention
•Demonstrating outstanding leadership and commitment to justice
2. IACP/SIA Michael Shanahan Leadership in Public/Private Cooperation Award
Dubai Police won this award for its "On-the-Go" Initiative, a collaborative effort with fuel service providers in Dubai. The initiative simplifies access to police services by enabling community members to obtain essential services without the need to visit police stations.
"On-the-Go" offers seven key services, including:
• Reports for minor traffic accidents
• Reports for unknown accidents
• Vehicle repair assistance
• Lost and found services
•The "Police Eye" service for reporting incidents
•Cybercrime reporting
This innovative approach improves efficiency and public satisfaction, exemplifying leadership in public-private cooperation.
3. IACP Leadership in Volunteer Police Service Programs Award – Comprehensive Police Service Program
Dubai Police also received recognition for its Volunteer Platform, which works in tandem with the force's Positive Spirit Council led by Ms Fatima Buhjair.
Over the past five years, the platform has recorded more than 1,254,761 volunteer hours from Dubai Police employees and external volunteers.
The platform promotes tolerance, coexistence, and dialogue while encouraging community participation through sports and cultural activities. It also educates youth on positive values and ethics, shaping them into responsible individuals and future leaders.
A Commitment to Excellence
Major General Abdul Quddus Al Obaidli credited these achievements to the visionary leadership of Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. He highlighted Dubai Police's focus on leveraging global best practices and advanced solutions to enhance policing and public safety.
