- Reem Al Hashimi visits GDRFA Dubai, honours Expo 2020 Dubai teams

H.E. Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, honoured today (Tuesday) the teams and staff of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA), who took part in Expo 2020 Dubai and contributed to achieving zero violations by participating pavilions, providing services to customers visiting its office at Expo, and realizing outstanding results by the end of the global event.

According to official statistics, the total number of transactions completed by GDRFA’s Expo office during the past two years crossed 36,347. In 2022, it processed 13,132 transactions, including 6,949 new applications; issuing 78 new residence permits, cancelling 3,876 residence permits within and outside the country, cancelling 468 visas before and after entry; renewing 254 residence permits; and changing the status of 1,096 and modifying data for 26 individuals.

Meanwhile, in 2021, a total of 23,215 transactions were processed, including 15,006 new applications, 3,470 new residence permits, 218 cancelled residence permits within and outside the country, 912 cancelled visas before and after entry, 207 renewed residence permits, 2,739 status changes, and 82 data modifications.

Al Hashimi lauded the great efforts made by the GDRFA, which played a central role in the preparations for and during the six-month even, swiftly providing work teams and competencies when needed, and harnessing smart techniques and modern technologies.

She also recognised the remarkable efforts made by all GDRFA workers and staff, especially those who went above and beyond to ensure the success of the mega event.

For his part, Lt. General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA, expressed his thanks and gratitude for Al Hashimi's visit, emphasizing her central role in achieving unparalleled successes during Expo 2020 Dubai.

Al Marri spoke highly of the strenuous efforts made by the GDRFA’s teams to apply the best global practices and provide sophisticated in order to enhance the quality and well-being of life.
