UAE Falcons Federation holds reception for 24th batch of Executive Master’s Programme in Sports Organisations Management

Event held in line with Ahmed bin Mohammed’s directives to raise awareness about the traditional sport of falconry in the UAE

Government of Dubai Media Office – 10 May 2022: The UAE Falcons Federation held a reception for the 24th batch of the Executive Master’s Programme in Sports Organisations Management at Deep Dive Dubai. The event was held in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE Falcons Federation and President of the National Olympic Committee, to raise awareness about the traditional sport.

Organised by the International Olympic Committee, the Programme features courses that are partly conducted in Dubai by the UAE National Olympic Committee. Its participants include members of various national committees and sports federations around the world, as well as professionals in diverse sporting disciplines.

His Excellency Rashid bin Markhan, Secretary-General of the UAE Falcons Federation, welcomed participants in the Programme, in the presence of Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the UAE National Olympic Committee; Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director of the UAE National Olympic Committee, Abdulaziz Sultan Al Ali and Yousef Abdullah Al Ali, members of the Federation’s Board of Directors.

The reception was aimed at highlighting the heritage sport and the UAE’s efforts to develop the sport over the last few decades.

Bin Markhan expressed his happiness at meeting with the participants of the Programme and wished them success in their future sporting endeavours. He highlighted the keenness of the UAE Falcon’s Federation to enhance awareness on the art of falconry, which is an integral part of the UAE’s rich heritage and cultural identity.

During the event, the UAE Falcons Federation held a presentation on traditional falconry techniques and the development of the sport in the UAE. The presentation also highlighted the UAE Government’s efforts to preserve the sport.

The UAE Falcons Federation also briefed participants on the key objectives of the Federation, which seeks to promote the sport and build a diverse fan-base among the public as part of promoting pride in the UAE’s cultural heritage.
