- Recognised as a global thought leader in business, Gary Vee is a serial entrepreneur and one of the world’s foremost marketing experts
Gary Vaynerchuk, the entrepreneur and business guru also known as Gary Vee, shared the secrets of his success to a packed house last night (9 February) at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.
Recognised as one of the world’s leading thinkers in business, Gary Vee told the audience at the sold-out session how an understanding of emotional intelligence can accelerate business success. “The reason why businesses fail is because companies are incapable of firing people who build the bottom line but who destroy all the morale,” he said. “In the world today negativity is increasingly loud and positivity tends to be silent. We have an obligation to take our positivity and make it louder.”
He explained that employing soft skills such as patience, accountability, optimism and empathy can improve leadership capabilities and build a more successful, lasting organization. Vee maintains that fear and negativity are sometimes a vehicle for short-term success but are not as powerful as building a business on kindness, empathy and love. “The world is addicted to pointing fingers. Fighting fire with fire is why so much is not being accomplished in society and the workplace.”
The approach is described in his latest bestselling book Twelve and a Half: Leveraging the Emotional Ingredients Necessary for Business Success, which shows how to strengthen these soft skills.
