IACAD provides over AED 46 million charitable aids until June 2021

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) announced that the value of humanitarian aids provided by the charitable sector during the first half of 2021 amounted to more than AED46 million within the framework of its mission to develop sustainable charitable work supporting the education, health, housing, feeding food and other charitable and humanitarian fields.

The report issued by the sector indicated that the largest proportion of the aids provided during the first half was within the initiative of the Community Solidarity Fund against Covid-19. The total aid amounted to more than AED20 million to limit the health, humanitarian, economic and social repercussions of the pandemic.

The aid provided for the education sector amounted to more than AED3 million, as the total number of beneficiaries reached 2,254 students in order to support them complete their education by supporting their insolvent families. The aid for the health sector amounted to more than AED10 million, as the number of the beneficiaries reached 114 patients until the first half of this year.

Emirates Today newspaper, in cooperation with the Mohammed Bin Rashid University Of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, launched a humanitarian initiative entitled "Your donation is a life". The initiative aims to support 38 patients with kidney failure and kidney transplantation in Dubai, with more than AED22 million, by motivating the private sector, businessmen and community members to provide the necessary support to the targeted group.

IACAD also signed a memorandum of understanding with Al Jalila Foundation to support Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital in education and medical research with an amount of AED10,000,000 million.

The aid for charitable initiatives in cooperation with the concerned authorities from the public and private sectors, such as housing, amounted to more than AED 1 million for 29 beneficiaries. IACAD help 21 inmates by paying their debts with more than AED1.5 million as part of an initiative to create stability for them and their families.

The total amount of aid for external humanitarian projects, and feeding food, as well as the "Al Twar Center for Dialysis", which was carried out in cooperation with the Dubai Health Authority and the Endowments and Minors Affairs Foundation, as well as the charitable societies contributing to the project, namely the Dar Al Ber association, Beit Al Khair association and  Dubai Charity, in addition to the contribution of Dubai Islamic Bank and Noor Bank, more than AED 7 million.

 

Commenting on the report's outputs, Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the charitable work sector, praised all who contributed to the humanitarian initiatives supervised by IACAD, and their efforts to achieve the great qualitative impact.

 Al Muhairi stressed that IACAD works continuously in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in order to confirm Dubai's continuous pioneering in the fields of charitable and humanitarian work in accordance with the highest international standards adopted in this field.
