The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) inaugurated the newly expanded radiology and interventional radiology department at Rashid Hospital on Sunday.
The expansion and developmental work included equipping the department with the latest equipment, technology and smart solutions.
The expansion aims to enhance the efforts and capabilities of the emergency and trauma center, as well as the various specialized departments of the hospital. It also aims to meet the growing demand on the trauma centre and the growing demand for interventional radiology services.
The radiology department at Rashid Hospital completed more than 177,000 x-rays in 2019. The number of interventional radiology procedures for major and precise operations for treating thrombosis and all arterial problems increased from 50 patients in 2010 to 660 patients in 2020.
Upon inaugurating the new department, His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami Director General of the DHA stressed that the growing demand from customers in the UAE and abroad is a testimony to the distinguished level of services provided by DHA medical facilities, whether in terms of medical competencies and experiences or in terms of technologies adopted and the treatment environment provided.
Al Qutami added that Rashid Hospital is home to one of the leading emergency and trauma centres in the region and is internationally recognized for the major and highly complicated procedures conducted by its many departments and specialists.
Al Qutami expressed the authority's deep appreciation to the supporters and sponsors who contributed to the expansion and development of the radiology and interventional radiology, department which include the Emirates Islamic Bank represented by Hesham Al Qassim, Chairman of the Emirates Islamic Bank, and DATCO Group represented by Salah Abdullah Saleh, member of the Board of Directors and businessman Rashid bin Dimas.
After the inauguration, H.E Al Qutami toured the newly expanded department along with the head of the department, Dr. Osama Al Bastaki, interventional radiology consultant, Dr. Ayman Al Sebaei and Dr. Fahd Basleib, CEO of Rashid Hospital.
