Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority Celebrates Flag Day

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) today joined the nation in celebrating UAE Flag Day. Senior officials gathered in front of DSOA headquarters to raise the UAE flag, in response to the call made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Juma Al Matrooshi, Deputy CEO of DSOA, said: “The event reflects the inspiring values of the nation that are rooted in the hearts of our people. On this day, we all pledge to keep the nation’s flag high, and pursue top ranks in various fields, under our flag’s identity – the symbol that unites the whole UAE.”

Al Matrooshi added: “Flag Day also marks the anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession to the office as President of the UAE in 2004. We raise our flag in response to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s call to express the unity of our home and the unity of our destiny, while also remembering the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who taught us the importance of our flag as a symbol of pride and leadership, and transforming challenges to opportunities especially during these difficult times amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum declared November 3 as Flag Day in 2013 to celebrate the unity among the people of the UAE and strengthen their sense of belonging to the country.
