DEWA observes Flag Day

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has responded to the call of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, by raising the UAE flag along with all organisations on 3 November to mark Flag Day. Flag Day is observed on 3 November each year on the same date as the anniversary of the accession of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Presidency of the UAE. The Flag Day initiative shows respect for the UAE flag as a symbol of sovereignty and unity.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, raised the flag at 11 am, attended by DEWA’s Executive Vice Presidents. DEWA employees watched the event on a live stream on DEWA's internal portal.

“On Flag Day, I convey my sincere congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; Their Highnesses the Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates; Their Highnesses the Crown Princes; and all citizens and residents of the UAE.

On this day, all Emiratis affirm their belonging to the UAE and their standing behind the wise leadership, pledging to ensure the UAE flag remains flying high. The UAE flag is a symbol for peace, tolerance, and giving. We pray to Allah to continue to bless our beloved country with dignity and prosperity," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“On Flag Day, Emiratis gather around the UAE flag raised by our Founding Fathers, to reiterate their commitment to the worthy values that they instilled in their hearts. At DEWA, we pledge to continue our hard work, guided by the vision and directives of our wise leadership, to shape the future of the UAE over the next 50 years, and make the UAE the world’s leading nation by its Centennial in 2071," said Al Tayer.

“We are honoured to support the event organised by Watani Al Emarat Foundation on Flag Day, with the theme ‘Proud of You’ in recognition of the first line of defence of workers and volunteers in vital sectors for their efforts in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their efforts have contributed to make the UAE’s handling of this crisis a role model worldwide,” concluded Al Tayer.

DEWA’s activities included dedicating a page on the internal portal, which includes national information and facts about the UAE flag. Flag Day logo was also displayed on all screens across DEWA.
