26 Oct, 2020

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) marked a new achievement by receiving the “Most Distinguished Learning & Development Strategy Award” as part of the GCC GOV HR Awards for the year 2020, which was held in Dubai on Monday, October 26, 2020.

The DHA won the award as a result of the fruitful cooperation between DHA’s Human Resources Department and the Medical Education and Research Department, after competing with more than 200 distinguished participants.

This was achieved due to the DHA’s keenness to implement various distinguished initiatives within its institutional framework to develop and enrich the skills and capabilities of employees.

The DHA’s offering is not limited to the traditional methods for provision of training courses, but it has rather launched various non-traditional initiatives, including a top-notch “Leadership Development Programme” specifically designed to address DHA’s work nature and mandate, in addition to launching dedicated training programs to support research. DHA offers its Employees Academic Scholarships both within the UAE and at prominent international institutions outside the country.

DHA also runs “Train the Trainers” Programs, in addition to the continuous improvement of the quality and scope of residency and fellowship programs and the provision of internationally-accredited and specialized programs in partnership with international institutions in the medical and administrative fields.

This is in addition to the DHA’s E-Medical Library", which offers more than 26 million scientific sources, ranging from articles, books, published research papers, scientific journals among others. Furthermore, and as part of its strategy for innovation and artificial intelligence, DHA has introduced several custom-made programs to enhance the culture of innovation among its employees, which had contributed to the registration of numerous patents by its employees during the past few years.

It is with no doubt that all the efforts offered by the DHA to develop its medical, para medical, nursing and administrative staff - were reflected in DHA achieving 88.6 % customer happiness rate in 2019. It also contributed to achieving exceptional happiness levels about the awareness and knowledge of DHA’s medical staff reaching 94% and the ability of the nursing staff to perform their duties optimally, reaching 93% within the same survey.

It is worth mentioning that the advanced technologies that the authority had introduced during the past few years for training at its medical library and virtual training programs - have contributed to enabling DHA to continue enriching the skills and capabilities of its employees. It also contributed to providing training and educational programs during the COVID-19 pandemic and familiarizing employees with the ongoing developments of the pandemic and the latest techniques and methods used to deal with it.

Amna Al Suweidi, Director of Human Resources and Dr. Wadeia AbdulRahim, Director, Medical Education and Research represented DHA at the award ceremony. The ceremony was attended by leaders and officials from various public and private agencies from all regions of the GCC.
