Dubai Chamber leverages GITEX 2020 to expand support to tech startups

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, through its entrepreneurship initiative Dubai Startup Hub, leveraged GITEX Technology Week 2020 platform to strengthen its outreach and expand its support to technology startups.

Visitors to Dubai Startup Hub’s stand at GITEX 2020 learned about existing programmes offered to technology startups through the platform, as well as the resources that Dubai Chamber’s international offices can provide in supporting startups with global expansion.

Initiatives highlighted during the exhibition include Co-founder Dubai – a programme designed to improve the success rate of locally based startups through comprehensive matchmaking and training, as well as the newly launched Scale-up Dubai, which provides support to fast-growing startups from the UAE that are keen to take their businesses to the next level and expand beyond borders.

Dubai Startup Hub’s expanded platform and activities at GITEX 2020 come in response to a rising number of inquiries it is receiving from entrepreneurs from the UAE and around the world that are seeking co-founder and tailored support for innovative business ventures. In addition, visitors had the opportunity to pose their questions to the Dubai Startup Hub Team during the MentorMe session hosted as part of GITEX Future Stars.

Natalia Sycheva, Sr. Manager of Entrepreneurship and Special Projects at Dubai Chamber, described GITEX as an ideal platform to engage with Dubai’s startup community and gain valuable feedback from entrepreneurs. She noted that Dubai Startup Hub provided a platform for 8 of its startup members to exhibit at GITEX, boost market exposure and connect with prospective investors and business partners.

“With Dubai seeing heightened interest in entrepreneurship this year, we identified a need to expand our offerings in line with the changing needs of our members and global startups that are keen on entering the local market. We were very encouraged by the strong and positive response we received from the startup community at GITEX and look forward to seeing many more innovative startups join our growing network in the near future,” she said.

Visitors to the Dubai Chamber stand at GITEX learned about the 50 e-services that the organisation provides to the business community through its website and smart applications. The services include certificates of origin, membership, attestation, ATA Carnets, legal inquires, smart mediation, credit rating and CSR Label, among many others.

Earlier this year, the Chamber launched a new electronic attestation service and the authentication of signatures on documents, which raised the percentage of smart transformation of core services to 98 per cent.
