2,344 employees from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) were honoured with Expo 2020 Dubai Medals in implementation of the grant by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to award Expo 2020 Dubai Medals to individuals who played a key role in the success of the global event hosted by the UAE. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, presented the medals to DEWA employees in recognition of their efforts throughout the exhibition as well as the preparation for the event.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, extended his profound gratitude and appreciation to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for this special honour and for awarding Expo 2020 Dubai Medal to DEWA volunteers and work teams.

“This honour underlines the keenness of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to recognise the efforts of the volunteers and work teams who contributed to hosting the best Expo and achieving the success that befits the UAE. They presented a favourable image of Dubai and the UAE and made Expo 2020 Dubai an unforgettable experience for millions of visitors from all over the world, in addition to strengthening the global position of the UAE and Dubai in organising and hosting major events, and its role in consolidating the relationships among peoples of the world,” said Al Tayer.

“Expo 2020 Dubai has sent a message of hope to the world from the UAE, the land of opportunities and dreams, that challenges can be turned into promising opportunities. This was made possible thanks to the vision and directives of the wise leadership and the strong willpower and sincere efforts of the people of the UAE who considered their participation in this global event a duty to return the favour to their generous country,” added Al Tayer.

“I would like to thank you for your exceptional efforts during Expo 2020 Dubai, and your commitment to presenting a positive image of Dubai and the UAE. Dubai hosted the best edition of this global exhibition in history, despite the challenges of the pandemic. Expo 2020 Dubai was an unforgettable experience for millions of visitors from around the world. I also commend the efforts of the team that managed DEWA’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which attracted more than one million visitors over six months. DEWA’s pavilion was widely praised for its smart and innovative projects and initiatives, as well as its sustainability efforts. On your behalf, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for this honour, which is a source of pride for all of us. We pledge to continue our efforts and use our expertise and capabilities to achieve the vision of the wise leadership in making Dubai the ideal destination for major international events,” said Al Tayer, addressing DEWA’s employees.

DEWA employees who received the Expo 2020 Dubai Medal expressed their happiness and gratitude for the honour and extended their sincere thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership. They emphasised that they were proud to be part of this historic event that brought the whole world together in the UAE.
They believe that volunteering at Expo 2020 Dubai and other events is a duty to the nation.

As the official sustainable energy partner for Expo 2020 Dubai, DEWA allocated AED 4.26 billion to supply the world-class event with electricity and water as well as support its electricity and water infrastructure projects using the latest smart systems. A total of 177 employees contributed 46,560 volunteering hours at Expo 2020 Dubai. DEWA’s pavilion attracted 1,044,743 visitors during the Expo.

DEWA’s projects, smart and innovative initiatives and efforts in sustainability received wide praise.
Visitors specially commended DEWA’s clean and energy projects and its efforts to contribute to turning Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world.
