Dubai Culture’s Visual Art Programme returns with a series of workshops and lectures

10 Apr, 2021

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in cooperation with Akaas Visual Arts, launched the activities of the Visual Art Programme for April with a series of workshops and discussions on artistic photography under the supervision of a group of pioneering and young artists specialised in this field. The Authority is calling on all interested individuals to participate to enrich their knowledge and refine their skills.

Dubai Culture organises such workshops for promising creative talents and those interested in visual arts in the UAE, regardless of their age and nationality. This comes within the framework of the Authority’s commitment to supporting talented citizens and residents in various visual arts fields, enriching their knowledge, refining their skills, and providing them with the opportunity to express and explore their creativity. Through the programme, Dubai Culture also seeks to stimulate the active, creative participation of all society members in the emirate by investing in partnerships with specialists from the private and public sectors, such as with Akaas Visual Arts.

The Authority kicked off the April programme with the ‘Explore Yourself in Photography’ session that was held on 2 April at the Al Safa Art & Design Library and presented by artist Jassim Alawadhi, founder of Akaas Visual Arts. April’s programme will also include a lecture and workshop titled ‘Theatre Photography’ for beginners, which will be held on 10 April at the Dubai Public Library at 11 a.m. and presented by artist Alawadhi, in partnership with the talented Emirati photographer, Faisal Al Rais.

On 16 April at 9 p.m., Alawadhi will take participants on a trip as part of the ‘Night Photography’ workshop for beginners, and on 23 April at 9 p.m., the same workshop will be held for intermediates. Alawadhi will conclude the month with a workshop titled ‘Colouring Pictures by Hand’ on 29 April at 9 p.m. in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.
