Dh3.5b: Dubai external coffee trade in 10 years

Statistics released by Dubai Customs revealed that Dubai external trade in coffee made Dh3.5b in the last ten years. Dubai is a central logistic hub that links markets in the Middle East and Europe with coffee manufacturing countries such as Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Uganda, and Vietnam.

“We have integrated and forward-looking strategies that help us foster Dubai’s leading trade position worldwide,” said Nassim Al Mehairi, Senior Manager of Statistics Department at Dubai Customs. “Dubai Customs deliver smart services to its clients to help them reduce the time, cost and effort required to complete transactions. This includes the coffee trade sector which receives full support from Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), the first of its kind in the Middle East, which provides quality logistics support linking coffee producers with the buyers.”

Statistics of Dubai Customs, released on the International Coffee Day which is marked annually on 1st October, showed Dubai coffee trade in H1, 2020 grew 5% to Dh253m compared to Dh240m in the corresponding period last year. The volume of coffee trade for H1, 2020 amounted to 14,000 tons.

Major partners in coffee imports are Switzerland at Dh33m, Italy at Dh23m, and Brazil Dh22m, and main export and re-export partners are Oman at Dh5.8m, Saudi Arabia at Dh5.1m and Kuwait at Dh5m.
